Mario Gotze (born 3 June
1992 in Memmingen, Bavaria) is one of the best young players in the world. His
favourite position is attacking midfielder, behind the forwards, but he can
also play on either of the wings and as a false 9.
Mario is a product of
Dortmund’s youth academy, where he earned the first team breakthrough during
2009/10 season and has since became the key player in Jurgen Klopp’s machinery
finishing 2010/11 season with 8 goals and 11 assists.
However, although he
signed a new contract which tied him to Borussia until 2016, April 2013 saw one
of the biggest transfers in Bundesliga history as Bayern Munich triggered Gotze’s
release clause of EUR 37 million making Gotze the most expensive German player
of all time.
Mario has made Bayern
Munich debut in August 2013 and has finished his first season in Munich with 15
goals and 14 assists in all competitions.
His national team debut
came in 2010 and the highlight of his entire career is definitely the winning
goal in the World Cup 2014 final extra-time against Argentina.
