Cristiano Ronaldo organized a luxurious party to celebrate his 30th birthday just a couple of hours after his Real Madrid were humiliated by their fierce rivals Atletico Madrid. The party of course caused most Real Madrid fans to share numerous critics on social media towards their favorite player.
The Spanish media published a video in which Ronaldo is enjoying the company of his teammates James Rodriguez, Marcelo and the substitute goalkeeper Keylor Navas. Media also noticed that the party has not seen any of the Spanish players, including Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas, so it is not hard to conclude that there are more clans within the Madrid club. Why would you not invite your teammates to your 30th birthday? Maybe they were invited though, but their pride and love towards the club were greater than their fellowship with Ronaldo, so they refused to go to the party after a horrible match.
Real Madrid’s president Florentino Perez was also allegedly furious when he saw the video, but Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes stood behind his client and defended him saying:
Cristiano remains the world's best professional, the best in history. He was very upset at the defeat. He told me that he would be there for a very short time but that he had more than 40 children at the party and had to go.
Mendes can defend his client as much as he wants, but it is hard to believe that it will make Real Madrid fans feel better after devastating defeat at Atletico Madrid which made the battle for La Liga title much more interesting now as the Catalan giants are only one point behind the “Royal club”.
What did actually make such enormous difference in Saturday’s derby after all? Most people would say it’s the absence of Marcelo, Ramos and Pepe in the defensive line, but Real Madrid midfielders can’t say they played on a level worthily of Real Madrid shirt. Just a simple look at the statistics will reveal everything – Khedira has won 23% of duels, Kroos was at 53%, while Isco had 41%. In comparison, Tiago has won 75% which is pretty amazing when you compare his price to the price of Kroos for example. Moving on, Gabi had 82% of successful passes, the same as Arda Turan who found time to interrupt 13 passes from Real Madrid players.
So, it is not so difficult to conclude that the main reason for such a huge victory lies in much better performance from Atletico’s midfielders.
Ancelotti, who described the defeat at Vicente Calderon as the worst since he became the head coach of Real Madrid, thus has to find the right way to recover his team ahead of next week’s Champions League first leg of the knockout phase against Schalke 04.
